Firefighters in Colorado are battling a grass fire near Pueblo that has burned one home and is threatening others.

Crews are fighting another grass fire near Brighton. Aerial footage from Denver TV stations shows the fire burning near homes and other buildings. KDVR-TV reports that one structure has burned.

Pueblo County Sheriff Deputy Laurie Kilpatrick says fire officials believe a tossed cigarette started the fire in Avondale, east of Pueblo, Friday afternoon. It was first reported that the fire was a controlled burn that went out of control.

Kilpatrick says conditions are extremely dry and people need to be careful.

The family in the mobile home that burned got out with no injuries.
